• Cambodia Gambling Dens

There is an appealing history to the Cambodia gambling halls that lie just over the dividing line from next door Thailand, where casino gaming is illegal. Eight gambling halls are established in a relatively tiny area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This band of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent destination, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital acquired from the casinos ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a number of controls constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; still, financing sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 1700, and despite the fact visas are supposedly required to pass, there are methods around this, as is true of many border crossings.

The initial Cambodia casinos opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, an anchored barge casino, contains one hundred and fifty slots and 60 table games. The Naga river boat never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of chemin de fer, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The initial gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly followed. A total of 150 slot machines and five tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four one armed bandits and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights three hundred slot machines and seventy gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slots and 96 table games, including 87 baccarat (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Also, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five one armed bandits and sixty six of the common gaming tables, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-around vacation and hotel building that contains numerous conveniences in addition to the casino, which offers ten thousand sq.ft. of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight table games.
